Apple cream cheese turnovers are flaky, handheld pastries with a creamy apple-cinnamon filling. They balance sweetness and warmth from sugar and cinnamon, and cream cheese tanginess, wrapped in buttery puff pastry.

These turnovers are delicious and easy to make. Serve as a yummy snack, breakfast treat, or dessert. Have them with your coffee, tea, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

How Are They Made?

Small chunks of apple are mixed with sugar and cinnamon. Next, a creamy filling of cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla is folded into the spiced apples. This mixture is placed on puff pastry squares, folded into triangles, sealed, brushed with egg wash, and baked until golden.

Customization Options

  • Use pears, peaches, or berries instead of apples.
  • Make smaller turnovers as fun party snacks. Cut the puff pastry sheets into four equal squares and fold each into a mini turnover. Bake them for about 10 minutes.
  • Add chopped nuts, like pecans or walnuts, for texture.

If you have some leftover apples, this homemade applesauce is easy to make and works well as a simple fruit side or topping.
